For this episode of the Legacy Foundation's Mondays with Mundy, Historian Jim Mundy shares the fascinating story of the final missing piece of the League House. The Union League of Philadelphia was originally founded in December of 1862. For the first few years of its formation though, League members were meeting in members' homes or in a few temporary clubhouses along Chestnut Street. It was long the plan though to build its own clubhouse at the Broad and Sansom Street locations. The initial House was built on the front half of the block, what's now known as the Broad Street building, but it took awhile to complete the entire block back to 15th Street. Those portions of the building were completed in 1910 and 1911... except for one hold out property! Jim has often shared this story, but the details are so fascinating that it was one that needed to be capture on recording! Watch and enjoy this episode to learn this very interesting story!
