This Westland Lysander was built in Canada in 1942. Serial Number: RCAF 2363 Civil Registration: C-GCWL Current Markings: RCAF 2363 Length: 30 ft 6 in Wingspan: 50 ft Power: 870 hp Engine: 1 x Bristol Mercury . Westland Aircraft of Yeovil, UK, started to design an Army Cooperation aircraft for the British Air Ministry, in June 1935. The first Canadian built Lysanders rolled out of National Steel Car factory at Malton, Ontario in September 1939 . This Lysander left service in 1946 and was sold to a Canadian Prairie Farmer where it sat in his field for 30 years. It was rescued and went to the Canadian Warplane Museum and was restored to its first flight in 2009.
