A deep album cut from "Kissing To Be Clever", as requested by one of my oldest friendships. (I hesitate to say HOW long we've been friends, because that number might be bigger than the fake age he gets away with telling everybody because he looks exactly the same as the day we met!) Hope you enjoy it, Dwayne, and everyone else. I pulled out some of the oldest photos of George & the band I could find, and although many of the outfits and photo shoots might be familiar, hopefully some of the poses are ones that haven't been shared all over the internet a zillion times. The song itself was one of the few non-single album cuts to remain in the live set when Culture Club transitioned over from "Kissing To Be Clever" promotion to "Colour By Numbers". In fact, it OPENED the show every night for nearly two years around the world. I've never heard that this was considered for a single release, but it tells me the band liked the song, and felt it was good enough to charge up an audience. They had designed a huge Sphinx themed backdrop for George to make his entrance from for the UK leg of the tour, but the nights they filmed "A Kiss Across The Ocean", they couldn't get it to work properly and the entire song as well as the theatrical entrance was cut from the video. By the time the Australian tour was broadcast on nation-wide television at the end of the tour, the set was changed and George's entrance was made descending from the heavens on a sliver of the moon. Perhaps not as dramatic, but at least it got filmed!
