In 1959, Zurich's transport company, the VBZ, took delivery of a very unusual bus. This was the FBW D90 with a Tuscher body. It was also known as the Hochlenker, or high handlebar bus. But, its most beloved name is that of "Giraff." In 1960/61, eleven more buses were delivered. Due to its height, it was restricted to only a few lines, including the Airport line. FBW and Tuscher tried to market this bus around the world, but there were no takers. The 12 buses lasted until the late 1970s. One is preserved in a Zurich transport museum, and one other exists, but was converted to a motorhome. See and hear the story of Zurich's Giraff bus! And as always, thank you so much for watching, liking, commenting and sharing my videos! I am very grateful for all of the support I receive from all of you who enjoy my work! #buses #busmania #busmanufacturing #vehicledesign #vehiclehistory #automotivedesign #automotivehistory #zurich #publictransport #bustransport #switzerland #switzerlandtravel #zurichswitzerland
