Join us on a breathtaking spring hike along the Cliff Top Walk in the Blue Mountains National Park, one of the most scenic walking tracks in New South Wales, Australia. This stunning 6km return trail connects Evans Lookout and Govetts Leap Lookout near Blackheath and follows the dramatic cliff edge of the Grose Valley. We began our walk at Evans Lookout, and were immediately greeted by a special surprise—three superb lyrebirds, one of Australia’s most iconic birds, right near the start of the trail. The entire walk is packed with nature’s wonders, offering panoramic views of the rugged Blue Mountains landscape, lush valleys, and stunning waterfalls. Along the way, we stopped at several lookouts including the highlight of the track, Barrow Lookout, which offered unbeatable views over the Grose Valley and cascading falls below. The Bridal Veil Falls, Horseshoe Falls, and another hidden waterfall from Hayward Gully all made appearances, adding to the magic of the experience. The track winds through beautiful windswept heathland, where we enjoyed the sights and scents of blooming spring wildflowers, including vibrant waratahs, banksias, and she-oaks. These native plants attract a variety of birds, and if you’re lucky, you may spot yellow-tailed black cockatoos, white-naped honeyeaters, and king parrots along the way. Reaching Govetts Leap Lookout is a reward in itself. With its sweeping valley vistas and towering cliffs, it’s one of the best lookouts in the Blue Mountains and offers a perfect turnaround point for this hike. After soaking in the views, we retraced our steps back to Evans Lookout, completing a total distance of around 6km in about 3 to 4 hours at a relaxed pace. 📍 Track Info: Name: Cliff Top Walking Track Location: Between Evans Lookout and Govetts Leap, Blackheath, Blue Mountains National Park Distance: 6km return (3km one-way) Grade: Moderate Best Time to Visit: Spring and early summer for wildflowers Highlights: Grose Valley views, lyrebird sightings, waterfalls, wildflowers, birdwatching, cliff-edge trail https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/...
