Crane falls over house - crushes car in driveway. We've had some very difficult jobs, but this sit tall towards the top! Issue after issue after issue, but a success as always when it was all said and done. The complications started early on and kept climbing. First, the tree people were supposed to have the path clear when we got there early. They never showed so we had to use Big Flipper, our 75ton rotator, to clear a path and move the cut up trees. Even after that, space was horrible but we were determined to get the crane back up. The crane's outriggers were stuck and would not retract, the boom wouldn't compress and the owners did not want us "making a mess" by bleeding it all. In the end, that's what they did the next day after we left. The goal was to fire it up once upright to retract it, and the owners were so sure it would 100% be possible. Turns out there was some complex electrical issue and short of waiting for a crane tech for weeks, they bled everything. Leverage is crazy, we deal with it in real life all the time but it's really apparent when you're doing a job like this. The slightest error will send our trucks over as well and could even cause great bodily harm. Despite all the setbacks, we did our job of getting it upright. I decided to make this video as long as possible despite it getting dark quick and heavy rain at times. I had to cut the cameras for that part and we had to wait until it stopped because it was too dangerous to climb while raining. We also had tons of standby time waiting for the company to get various parts to fix the crane, which was all for nothing since they never got it started. All in all this was a beast of a job, and goes to show you not every job can be done fast and easy. Sometimes your plan doesn't work and you have to adapt and keep going and find a way to make it work. What did you guys think??
