New Crossbones - Ukuyilondolola - Full Single

Zambian music records uploaded on Tuesdays and Fridays. Both sides of this single are a bit scratched and worn, but if you can hear past the crackles, this is another great kalundula record by the New Crossbones band. New Crossbones is part of a storied legacy of music. It started life as a Zamrock band from Choma, Zambia named Cross Town Traffic before changing its name to Crossbones. Crossbones had an album (Wise Man) and some singles. In the late 70's with the addition of Chris Chali to the lineup, it morphed into the kalindula band, New Crossbones. New Crossbones likewise had an album (Mayenge) and some singles until around 1986 when it became Amayenge. Amayenge has a long history in Zambian music, having toured around the world and produced more albums than its prior incarnations combined. It is one of the rare Zambian bands that have gotten notice outside of Zambia in a significant way while still active. They've had quite a few members over the years. Chris Chali died in 2003 but they have continued performing since then.
