Locomotive consist: RMRX 8013 - GMD GP40-2LW - Gold, blue and white - Fouled Narrow Font K3L (dead #3) RMRX 8017 - EMD GP40-2R - Gold, blue and white This crossing is located on the CN Squamish Subdivision. Horn setting: Horn zone. Signal on the left: A Safetran base and 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24" lights with Harmon Fading LEDs. Signal on the right: A Safetran base, 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24" lights with Harmon Fading LEDs and a Safetran Type 1 electronic bell. Once I caught RMR 613 arriving into Whistler, I quickly headed over to this high-priority crossing despite them being about another hour until they depart for Narin Falls to tie down for the night. Once I heard them clear to depart on my scanner, I quickly headed over to the crossing and started recording. Shortly after, I heard a familiar horn in the distance, and then the crossing activated. Here we see a deadhead move of RMR 613 heading to Narin Falls (near Pemberton) to tie down before the continued journey north the next day. This crossing is a great one, and I’m certainly glad to have recorded it. It is a late-1990s BC Rail install that is largely original, likely replacing crossbucks. Only change that has occurred to the signals since installation was the replacement of the original Safetran LED inserts with the current ones shortly after CN took over BC Rail operations. The icing on the cake is of course, the Safetran Type 1 E-Bell! This is one of 5 on the southern portion of the former BC Rail mainline, and one of 7 in BC. Overall, a crossing I’m happy to have finally gotten a video of. Please comment, like and subscribe!
