Seth Davey - We Stand Amazed (Full Band Version)

We Stand Amazed was the first hymn I wrote about 18 years ago, taught to the small congregation of my church's college and high school ministries, recorded with Attalus on Gospel Hymns Vol. 1 when my friend, Chris Wertz, founder of a ministry to orphaned children in Uganda called 7 Billion Reasons, asked if I would record this song and others to raise money for 7BR, yet it's a song I never played with a full band. Not once. It just never felt right for some reason. Even during my Attalus days, even when surrounded by such wonderful instrumentalists, further accompaniment to this simple psalm just felt like a subtraction rather than an addition so I steered clear of it. Well, inspiration's a funny thing, so here we are! While this song is not part of my upcoming concept album, Kingdom Rising, it shares the same musical pulse, exults in the same Lord and Savior, and does so through an ensemble of earthy instruments that, to me, illustrate a central paradox of grace in the Christian life: 'Upon these broken instruments You wrote a song that won't grow old.'
