Skoda Auto India has been in the country for more than a decade now but could not attain a noticeable market share. The company did make an abortive attempt to enter the volume category with hatchback --Fabia but the production of the car has been recently 'paused'. The car was not able to rake up good volume sales due to being 'overpriced' as observed by many experts. Sudhir Rao, Chairman & Managing Director, who took over the office two years ago, says that the company is re-evaluating small car strategy and in the mean time it will continue to focus on niche premium category. Talking to Nabeel A Khan and Deepanshu Taumar of ETAuto.com he asserted that the company has identified problem area in terms of aftersales support and parts availability.
