In this video I share my thoughts not only on this popular and tranquil camp, but also on its smaller sister camp, Balule, just down the road... I have very fond childhood memories of Olifants rest camp, having come here regularly as a small boy. Since it's perched high up on a ridge, overlooking the Olifants River, it's got the best view of any camp on the Kruger National Park by far... It has also got a very relaxing atmosphere and the birdlife in camp is phenomenal. It doesn't, however, have a campsite. If you stay in a tent or caravan, you'll have to book one of the handful of stands in Balule Satellite camp just upstream from Olifants. There are also six basic bungalows here. And remember - Balule has no power! There are, however, communal kitchens with gas fridges and freezers, as well as lanterns every night to provide light.
