So let us understand what is micro needling? Micro Needling is nothing but it's a cylindrical drum like instrument which has needles mounted on that and it is rolled on the skin. Why do we do it? See we would have got lot of injuries so whenever there is a scratch on, you would have seen that the wound usually heals automatically by itself within 7 to 10 days. So whenever there is a trauma to the skin the body starts producing more collagen, more new cells to come up to the surface or to rejuvenate itself. So this mechanism or principle is used in micro needling. So whenever the needles roll on the skin they are actually causing damage or trauma to the skin so whenever there is trauma there is a prick there is a wound that helps to stimulate collagen as well as in the regeneration of the outer layers of the skin. Now the question is how to do it, where to do it and when to do it? See how do you do it ideally micro needling is a procedure it's a treatment which is done by dermatologist. Why do we do in a clinic rather than at home because whenever you want to stimulate collagen you have to go deeper. See the thickness of the outer layer of the skin that is the epidermis is about 0.05 mm to about 1 to 1.5 mm and whenever you're doing a micro needling at home probably you're using 0.5 mm. So when you are using 0.5 mm it may be that you're not reaching deep into the dermis. Collagen is a tissue which is deep inside so if you have to go and stimulate the collagen at least you have to use 1.5 millimeter micro needle instrument. So whenever you're entering dermal layer that is the middle layer of the skin there are lot of blood vessels naturally they will bleed, so how we train dermatologists is when they are doing a micro needling procedure the end point for them to stop micro needling is pinpoint bleeding. So such bleeding should not happen at home. So if the bleeding is not happening then it means that you are in the upper layers or the dead layer of the skin. So pricking only the dead layer of the skin may help in rejuvenation in the outer layers but the collagen induction does not happen so well. Second aspect is it very important to remove your dead skin like that? Ideally no. Why? Because skin has a turnover time of about four weeks. And the living layer becomes a dead layer and sheds off within four layers. So the nature itself has made a skin a self-renewal system. Whenever you are causing trauma sometimes people have a tendency for hypopigmentation so then the darkening of the skin may happen. Second thing is your inciting injury on the skin if you don't protect your skin sufficiently then that can cause damage rather than an improvement. And third thing is it also depends on what type of skin you have. See whenever the skin is dry you do these needling then it's going to damage it further. So the simplest thing is if at all you need something intense treatment like that it is always better to be done under the supervision or with the advice of a dermatologist. Second you want to renew the skin right? You can definitely use safer things like a vitamin A based cream. You can start using retinol which is commonly used. These are some safer options which can help you to improve the skin without causing any trauma or damage to the skin. And third thing is whenever there's a lot of friction that itself can give a lot of pigmentation. So for that reason micro needling is not a very great option because you need to reach into deeper layers to have the best effect. Second if you are going superficially there are both plus and minus points. It may benefit but also the risk of damage is more. So hence consult a dermatologist for a good product which can give a result something very similar to micro needling. #microneedling #dermaroller #acnescars #skincare #beauty #microneedle #acne #acnescarremoval #pimplesfreeskin #smoothskin
