A tough day of hills and mist as I leave Horsley and head toward the high ground of Crowborough. From the gruelling push up Dunley Hill to the discovery of a century-old pet cemetery in Reigate, it’s been a 42-mile journey that truly tested my legs! Today’s Highlights The Wet Tent Ritual: Starting the day with the inevitable task of packing away a soaking wet Hilleberg Staika in the heavy Surrey mist. Dunley Hill Defeat: Encountered Dunley Hill near East Horsley—a climb so steep it forced me off the bike. Pushing a fully loaded touring bike is sometimes harder than cycling it! Reigate Pet Cemetery: Stumbled across a fascinating and unusual pet cemetery dating back to 1903. A quiet, reflective spot in the middle of a busy touring day. Forest Way Country Park: Enjoyed a lovely stretch along the Forest Way, part of Route 21. It felt like being on a French "Greenway" with its smooth paths and peaceful scenery. Crowborough Climb: Finished the day with one final, punishing climb into Crowborough before dropping down to the campsite. My legs are certainly feeling every one of those 42 miles. I'm Garry McGivern (Travelsonabike2), and I've been travelling the world by bike since 2008. Solo self-supported bicycle touring on my trusty bike, Passepartout. My vlogs are unscripted, down-to-earth and honest—sharing the highs, the lows, and everything in between of a long-distance cyclist. I've now cycled more than 60,000 miles around the world 🌏 and I’m still going. My video 📹 blogs complement my written blogs, which I publish daily on my website, https://www.garrymcgivern.com/, each time I head off on a bicycle tour. Bear in mind when watching. The video 📹 is unscripted and recorded as I cycle along 🚲, and might not be of the highest quality. The footage is then cobbled together when I get home. It's certainly no Hollywood 🎬 production. But it might just make you smile and inspire you to get on your bike and head off on your own bicycle tour. 🚲 Follow my bicycle touring adventures: • Where’s Garry: https://www.garrymcgivern.com/wheres-... • Subscribe to Garry’s Blog: https://www.garrymcgivern.com/follow-... Navigating the "brick wall" of a hill with a full load is a physical challenge, but the medication eventually settles things down once I'm at camp.
