Navigating the heart of London today as I travel from the banks of the Thames at Chertsey to the Lee Valley. From peaceful riverside paths to the bustling streets of Westminster, it’s been a high-mileage day of 38 miles through some of the capital's most iconic spots. Today’s Highlights Morning Pain: Woke up in significant pain today; my hip and neck were particularly troublesome after yesterday’s ride. It took a while for the medication to kick in, and I even forgot a dose during the excitement of London! The Lycra Brigade: Shared the roads with hundreds of cyclists today—mostly joggers and serious roadies—especially around the Thames Path and Richmond Park. Iconic Landmarks: Cycled past Hampton Court Palace, the Royal Hospital Chelsea, and the Houses of Parliament. London felt incredibly busy today, but the views from the bike are always worth the traffic! Tottenham Hotspur Sightings: Passed by the Spurs training ground on the way out of North London toward the M25. Improvised Washing Line: Since my bike was too far away to use as a tether, I’ve rigged up a washing line using my trekking pole and guy ropes to try and dry my clothes overnight. I'm Garry McGivern (Travelsonabike2), and I've been travelling the world by bike since 2008. Solo self-supported bicycle touring on my trusty bike, Passepartout. My vlogs are unscripted, down-to-earth and honest—sharing the highs, the lows, and everything in between of a long-distance cyclist. I've now cycled more than 60,000 miles around the world 🌏 and I’m still going. My video 📹 blogs complement my written blogs, which I publish daily on my website, https://www.garrymcgivern.com/, each time I head off on a bicycle tour. Bear in mind when watching. The video 📹 is unscripted and recorded as I cycle along 🚲, and might not be of the highest quality. The footage is then cobbled together when I get home. It's certainly no Hollywood 🎬 production. But it might just make you smile and inspire you to get on your bike and head off on your own bicycle tour. 🚲 Follow my bicycle touring adventures: • Where’s Garry: https://www.garrymcgivern.com/wheres-... • Subscribe to Garry’s Blog: https://www.garrymcgivern.com/follow-... The "rattling" hip and numb arms are a constant reminder of my DCM journey, but reaching Waltham Cross feels like a great achievement.
