A day of "faffing," fogs, and flat-out navigation fails as I leave Waltham Cross and head back south through the heart of London. From packing and repacking five times to getting well and truly lost in the woods near Horsley, it’s been a 43-mile test of patience! Today’s Highlights The Packing Paradox: Spent the morning in a fog of indecision, packing and repacking my bags five times as I kept forgetting essential kit—a sign of the "faffing" to come! World Touring Inspiration: Met Rebecca, a fellow cyclist from America who is currently cycling around the world. A quick chat before hitting the road was just what I needed. London Landmarks (Again!): Cycled through Chinatown and past the bright lights of Piccadilly Circus, navigating the crowds and the ever-present London traffic. Medication Mishap: Managed to drop my tablets all over the floor at a bus stop—hopefully, no local wildlife finds them and ends up "high as a kite!" The Back-Alley Trap: My navigation app led me down the wrong track and onto a series of increasingly narrow, overgrown, and private paths while I was trying to find the Horsley campsite. At one point, I was lifting my bike over obstacles in a total "navigation nightmare". Beer Overload: Despite having plenty of supplies, I somehow ended up buying more beer on the way. I'm Garry McGivern (Travelsonabike2), and I've been travelling the world by bike since 2008. Solo self-supported bicycle touring on my trusty bike, Passepartout. My vlogs are unscripted, down-to-earth and honest—sharing the highs, the lows, and everything in between of a long-distance cyclist. I've now cycled more than 60,000 miles around the world 🌏 and I’m still going. My video 📹 blogs complement my written blogs, which I publish daily on my website, https://www.garrymcgivern.com/, each time I head off on a bicycle tour. Bear in mind when watching. The video 📹 is unscripted and recorded as I cycle along 🚲, and might not be of the highest quality. The footage is then cobbled together when I get home. It's certainly no Hollywood 🎬 production. But it might just make you smile and inspire you to get on your bike and head off on your own bicycle tour. 🚲 Follow my bicycle touring adventures: • Where’s Garry: https://www.garrymcgivern.com/wheres-... • Subscribe to Garry’s Blog: https://www.garrymcgivern.com/follow-... The constant vibration of the London roads and the "navigation fails" certainly haven't helped the fatigue, but I'm glad to be set up at Horsley for the night.
