Bures Lake Suffolk March 2025

London Anglers Ass venue. Bures Lake on the Essex/Suffolk border. Air temp 6c, rising to 15c, dropping to 5c. This followed 3 heavy frosts. Water temp 4.5c. Air pressure 1015 Wind negligible. I was expecting the water temperature to be higher but it was still cold, so I reduced the amount of feed I put in at the start. During the day, I got a few single beeps, and around 3 pm, I decided to switch one rod to an 8mm krill pellet. Within minutes I had my first fish, and this one rod accounted for all 5 fish. 3 bream, best around 5lb, a common around 12lb, and that proper ‘old skool’ common, 23lb 4oz. One of the original fish for sure. As it turned out, I went home at 9pm, feeling cold and ‘kanaked’. Good job I did, coz I felt rubbish the next day. It’s one thing getting flu like symptoms, but with me still in recovery mode, everything is so much more of an effort. What helps greatly at Bures, is you can bring your car right up to most swims.
