Part VI: New Mexico...and still New Mexico A short day in terms of sights and travel but some notable stops. We leave Gallup, New Mexico with snow falling. There was supposed to be a severe storm, but it looks like it didn't hit as hard as they anticipated. Our destination is Tucumcari, New Mexico. We make a stop at the drive through shield in Grants, NM and make a stop at the old Rio Puerco bridge that used to ferry Route 66 traffic. Along the way we drive through Albuquerque and stop at the famous Dog House to get some half chili dogs. Next up is a stop at the last operating Whiting Brothers gas station in Moriarity, NM where I got to meet the owner, Sal Lucero. After a lot of highway driving we finally pull into Tucumcari, NM. We get a room at the Motel Safari and then a quick bite to eat at Del's Restaurant. Then it's time for some shuteye. The next day is going to be a long one.
