Grand Targhee: Shoshone

Installed in 1996 to replace a Hall double of the same name, this Garaventa/CTEC quad serves Targhee’s beginner terrain pod. Starting below the base lodge and going up about 250ft vertical above it. It’s a very small but very standard Garaventa/CTEC quad for its era, using a Sprint drive/tension terminal at the bottom and to simple fixed return at the top. It’s definitely designed to be a beginner light with a snails pace 350fpm design & operating speed, but is essential to the Beginner experience at Targhee and it does that well. The terrain it serves is great for cruising and progression with lots of ways down and it sits in an Aspen grove. It also started running in the summer in recent years, serving beginner bike trails, although I am not sure when this started. Overall it’s an incredibly useful & essential lift for Grand Targhee and I don’t see it going anywhere anytime soon.
