Resident Evil HD Remaster is Capcom’s modern presentation of the survival horror classic that defined the genre. In Part 1 of this full gameplay walkthrough, we return to the Spencer Mansion as the nightmare begins again. Dark hallways, fixed camera angles, dangerous enemies, and complex puzzles combine with tense exploration and iconic atmosphere in this remastered version of Capcom’s legendary remake. I’ll be honest — I’ve only played this version a handful of times. I grew up with the 1996 Resident Evil, and when the remake arrived less than a decade later, it didn’t land with me at all. The changes felt too sharp, too unfamiliar, and at the time unnecessary. It broke my connection to something I knew and loved inside out, and that put me off revisiting the game for more than a decade. Over the years, though, my view of the game has softened, and this runthrough reminded me why survival horror works best when it’s slow, tense, and unforgiving.
