One Lytle Place is a 25 story apartment building along the Ohio River in Cincinnati. It's part of a small complex designed by Louis Sauer. Because of its excessive use of concrete, One Lytle's appearance isn't popular with the public. However, I think it's one of the most interesting buildings in the city. The concourse fountains and plaza have so many little walkways and interesting concrete shapes. It's a shame it hasn't been maintained over the years. With a little TLC, it could be restored to its former glory. In this video, we go over some of the history of the site and explore the interesting brutalist architectural features of the building. I think the elevators in the building were originally Dover. The drop key holders in the wall on the bottom floors of the elevators look a lot like the ones Dover used. There's also a cover plate screwed into the middle of the top of the door frame of the cabs. This may have been where a center mounted directional lantern was located. Dovers from that era often had them installed like that, though I've only seen them used on holeless hydraulics. The door tracks also looks like Dover's. My final guess is that these were Dovers with traditional fixtures, but I'm not 100% sure. 0:00 Site Overview 0:53 History 3:36 Elevator Diagram 4:19 Parking Garage 6:05 Concourse Fountains Past & Present 9:19 Plaza and Abandoned Elevator 15:28 Glass Elevator 18:31 High Rise Elevators 30:57 Roof 33:19 Final Ride Down 35:20 Outro
