We asked Mikael what segments he remembers most after filming two seasons of The Life-Sized City in 12 cities - and ahead of the launch of S03 in September. Without hesitation, he said it was this one. Interviewing Town Planner Sixwe Mxobo in the PJS informal settlement in Cape Town (S02E01). Engaging the citizens in forming, developing, improving their community. And their answers to the questions are concrete, useful and important. Often it's the first time anyone has asked them for their opinion. Using town planning and urban design in concert with the citizens is the way forward. Mikael writes: "Sixwe is so passionate and so kind and his work is an inspiration. Meeting the citizens in the PJS informal settlement was so moving. These are some of the strongest, most resilient humans I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Our citizens - "formal" or not - are the true experts in community development. Empowering them, like Sixwe does, is a powerful force for change. In Cape Town - or anywhere." Excerpt from the S02 episode of tv series The Life-Sized City. All seasons are online.
