Listen at a door, open the door, fight the monster, grab the loot, etc. The last thing you would want is to fall into routine habits when playing. It is very easy to create unexpected events during a dungeon adventure by using a simple chart as you play. Charts are one of the mainstays of Classic Dungeons & Dragons RPG play.
