HMCS Harry DeWolf - Canada's first Arctic Offshore Patrol Vessel arrives in Victoria the first time

The Royal Canadian Navy’s (RCN) first Arctic Offshore Patrol Vessel (AOPV), Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Harry DeWolf (AOPV 430), comes alongside at Ogden Point in Victoria, British Columbia, on 3 October 2021. The ship later moved to CFB Esquimalt, home of the Royal Canadian Navy’s Maritime Forces Pacific, where the crew and ship went through a Rest and Maintenance Period. The ship was delivered to the RCN on 31 July 2020, and is named in honour of Second World War Canadian naval hero Vice-Admiral Harry DeWolf. HMCS Harry DeWolf is the first ship of the Arctic Offshore Patrol Ship program. Six of these ships will be built for the RCN, and 2 similar ships will be built for the Canadian Coast Guard. HMCS Harry DeWolf is nearly halfway through its maiden operational deployment and is already demonstrating its versatility by successfully crossing the fabled Northwest Passage while exercising the defence of Canada in northern regions. In late October it will participate in drug interdiction operations while supporting Operation CARIBBE in the Eastern Pacific, before transiting the Panama Canal, after which it will continue that operation in the Caribbean Sea. When HMCS Harry DeWolf returns to its homeport of Halifax, Nova Scotia, it will be the first Canadian Warship since HMCS Labrador in 1954 to complete the circumnavigation of North America. Go Bold!
