Habu XS (eXtra Sport) 80mm as the title states the maiden flight went well we went right back out with the second flight and a different pilot and one of the landing gear did not deploy as dictated as shown in the picture We then had to emergency land on the belly that didn't go perfectly but the outcome was perfect ended up floating way further than he intended but he put it down nice and soft there was zero damage As you can tell in the video I don't know if I've ever been frustrated as much as I was with this bird with any others It started out bad with the CG being wrong The odd part is I know I'm measuring correctly I have people verify my measurements even and it just seems as if a lot of birds come without a very good CG mark or maybe it's just me I always say I'm still pretty much a beginner or novice so don't hold it against me but once I decided I was going no matter what and chance the bird with tail heaviness things went well I ended up the first flight with a 4,000 and it was super tail heavy and the 3300 of course still tell heavy then I ended up flying it with several batteries since then to be honest and it flies well with all of them even with safe on or off completely it still does the same thing and it's great It doesn't care about CG as much as other birds so if the factory CG is correct well then it doesn't really matter unless I would imagine if you get super duper crazy like pushing a 7,000 as far back as it'll go or I don't know something. The next area that I experienced trouble with was I had set this up on the bench for the video and all of the control services were completely flat once I got to the field for the maiden one of the flaps was a bit low this is probably 100% me so no big deal but I was a little aggravated cuz I was ready to fly and I noticed it at the last second. So then I went into the taxi test which is normally a thing I do for a brand new bird to see if it's going to go straight and it didn't it went straight into the grass I was having to give it rudder off the line which I knew would be an aggravation not so much for takeoff cuz I could easily compensate for and take off but for landing it's kind of hard when you're already got a lot of things going on to land to think about one extra thing of giving full left rudder to keep the plane from going in the grass and I didn't want that aggravation probably would have been okay with this bird though cuz it's so docile and easy to deal with I just didn't want to deal with it so I took it back to the bench flipped it over Well that's not exactly true I actually flipped it over out there on the flight line with a tool in my hand thinking I could just do an adjustment Wheel I'm laying on the ground looking and finally ended up giving up and went back to the bench and that's where you see my scene on the video where I show you the bird flipped over it's just ridiculous that there's no way to adjust that thing on that linkage If you know a way please let me know I even thought about reaching in there with a needle nose and grabbing the threaded rod in order to turn the thing but I think both of the clevises would end up tightening or loosening at the same time so I don't know that may work but that doesn't seem like it's the way they want you to do it there's no flat spot on it for you to stick a tool or anything like that so I eventually figured it out if I adjusted the front wheel with trim then I did a mechanical on the rudder everything is fine now no big deal no no harm no foul cuz I finally figured it out but I can't believe that's the correct method cuz now I have to fly around with 25% trim on my front wheel in order to go straight probably could even fine-tune that a bit more just was excited to finally get in the air and I kind of drive it down the runway a little but not much it's actually pretty good. of course then going into the last biggest aggravation on the second flight Mr Larry's flying it and of course we coming in for a landing he's looking really good on his approach and we finally noticed when it's right in front of us that one wheel isn't down This created a quite an aggravation I would say because you're looking at a brand new bird that you're going to destroy so we did the only thing any self-respect in RC pilot would do with a stuck gear put the other ones up and decides a belly land This is probably the most substantial belly land Mr Larry has ever done He's done it hundreds of times with the v900 but there's a lot more extra stress when flying something of this size just thinking that it's going to be a total loss at some point during the landing but I have to say to him he did an excellent job the bird has if any very little scratches from the belly rub. I don't know if anybody's going to read all of this normally I keep these short to keep people if they think 5 minutes is pretty good I shouldn't keep it not financially but I want it That's my take.
