Meaghan Smith - Our Song - You Live - Lyric Video

You Live was the most difficult Our Song (or song period) I have ever written. It was commissioned by a father for his young daughter, who struggles living with P.T.S.D. When his daughter was a very young girl, she was abducted from their home and hurt in unspeakable ways by ‘the monster’ (our name for the one who did this to her). Her story is miraculous, not only because she survived this, but because she then, as a child, testified against him in court and put him behind bars. Because of this, every day she struggles through living with P.T.S.D. But she continues to LIVE - she works hard to get good grades in school. She in an amazing visual artist. She is caring and compassionate. She LIVES. And this was what I knew her song needed to be about. The fact that she is still here on this planet is a testament to the hero that she is, and to the potential strength we all have within us to overcome the impossible. I hope you find inspiration in You Live. I hope it gives you the courage to continue on and overcome your impossible. Know that she’s out there not only surviving, but LIVING. This knowledge gives me strength to believe in myself. I hope it can do the same for you. So many thanks to Carissa Timmons, the beautiful dancer in the You Live Lyric Video.
