This is audio of the fire horns and sirens that were (believe still are) utilized by the Midland Park, NJ Fire Department. The air horns are Leslie Train Horns that are on top of the municipal hall / police department which was back in the day the former firehouse. The horns were on a Gamewell Box Alarm System prior to 1995 where it would blast different signals for where the street location of the call was located. These are not the usual type of horns that fire departments used back in the day, many departments used the Gamewell Diaphone horns hooked to the Gamewell Box Alarm System. The other sirens you hear are located at the current firehouse and also believe next to the towns High School. These are the box alarm list for the horns http://www.backtaps.com/boxlists/Midl... You can find the history of the fire horns here at http://www.backtaps.com/retiredsystem... Just look for Bergen County. The horns bring back memories when I was a kid. My family was part of Midland Park FD and as a kid along with my siblings we knew to get out of the way and out of the driveway when we heard the horns as my grandfather would be coming out to go to the call. These horns and sirens were part of the community through out history and well I had stumbled on the audio file of the horn going off in files from when I was doing home care for my grandfather back in 2014. Also brings back memories of being right there in front of the municipal building when those horns went off, they would make you jump for a second for how loud they were.
