Have you ever seen cherry blossoms in Japan? In this video, I show you cherry blossoms along the Philosopher's Path in the Sakyo ward in Kyoto. 1. The Philosopher’s Path (Sakyo ward, Kyoto city) The Philosopher’s Path, “Tetsugaku no Michi” in Japanese, is a charming pedestrian route located in Sakyo ward of Kyoto city that stretches for around 2 kilometers along the Lake Biwa Canal among stunning natural scenery. As Professor Nishida Kitaro commuted to Kyoto University daily, the path received its name from the philosopher who walked it for meditation. 420 cherry trees line the path, making it a pleasant walk. Many tourists come to see the scenery during the day, but fewer in the early morning. The peak bloom: last March - early April. Entrance fee: Free 2. Otoyo shrine (Sakyo ward, Kyoto city) Otoyo Shrine (Sakyo Ward, Kyoto) is a unique spot where you can enjoy both plum and cherry blossoms simultaneously. Located near the Philosopher's Path, this shrine is also known for its rat and other animal statues. Shirakawa Canal (Sakyo ward, Kyoto city) The canal can be reached by walking along the canal of the Philosopher’s Path. It crosses Takano River and finally reaches Kamo River.
