There actually is a lot of setup that goes into preparing one to begin the journey of trauma processing. Setting up for EMDR is the foundation for healthy rapport with your therapist, learning many tools and skills to help you feel safe and ready to start, and to help regulate emotion. Your therapist will get to know you, your background, what brings you in to therapy, what you would like to focus on, and how to do that in an appropriate and safe way. Check it out.
