President George W. Bush is expected to soon announce a strategy designed to implement his vision of a Palestinian state on land the Arabs lost to Israel in the 1967 Mideast war. Bush is considering U.S. support for a fledgling Palestinian state, an idea Powell floated earlier this week. The Saudi Arabian monarchy is pressing for Israel to withdraw to the borders it held before the 1967 war.
