Read the full story: https://beingpatient.com/vascular-dem... Dr. Jason Hinman is an associate professor of neurology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. As both a practicing vascular neurologist and a neuroscientist, his research explores the molecular pathways connecting stroke and cognitive decline, aiming to develop new diagnostic tools and treatments. In this interview with Being Patient’s Mark Niu, Hinman explains the differences between vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s, particularly when it comes to symptoms and progression, and why vascular dementia often coexists with other types of dementia. He also digs into the importance of midlife lifestyle changes and managing modifiable risk factors like hypertension and diabetes — and he shares why he’s hopeful about new research into treatments, including GLP-1 drugs (like Ozempic and Wegovy), anti-inflammatory therapies, and even senolytics (a class of drugs designed to slow biological aging). —- If you loved watching this Live Talk, visit our website to find more of our Alzheimer’s coverage and subscribe to our newsletter: https://www.beingpatient.com/ Follow Being Patient: Twitter: / being_patient_ Instagram: / beingpatientvoices Facebook: / beingpatientalzheimers LinkedIn: / being-patient Being Patient is an editorially independent journalism outlet for news and reporting about brain health, cognitive science, and neurodegenerative diseases.
