For the 6th time in the last 8 years, I went to the Monticello Railway Museum for their Railroad Days event. While on most weekends during their operating season, there's usually only one locomotive in operation. On this day there were four including the museum's operating steam engine Southern 401 (2-8-0 Consolidation type locomotive built by Baldwin 1907) pulling the mixed passenger train, Wabash 1189 (F7A built by EMD 1953) pulling the coach train, Chicago and Illinois Midland 31 (RS1325 built by EMD 1960) pulling the freight/caboose train, and Illinois Central 8733 (GP11 built as a GP9 by EMD 1958) pulling the caboose hop between the yard and storage barn. While the Illinois Railway Museum is known for its Chicago and Northwestern/Milwaukee Road equipment, Monticello is known for its Illinois Central and even Wabash equipment. I spent a couple hours filming the various trains as well as some of the equipment on display before heading down to Bement, IL for a little bit to catch some NS Lafayette District action before catching a couple of the museum trains before heading home. Enjoy and don't forget to comment and subscribe!!!!
