Tommy's Trains - February Half Term Adventure Part 3

Day 3 of our February Half Term Adventure and another hectic, tiring yet brilliant day trainspotting and exploring Liverpool. See part 1 here    • Tommy's Trains - February Half Term Advent...   After breakfast, we headed to Liverpool Lime Street and caught a Northern train to Warrington Central. We then braved the rain and walked the 20 minutes or so to Warrington Bank Quay which is the biggest of the three stations in Warrington. On the West Coast Mainline, we got to work spotting Avanti West Coast, Transport For Wales, Northern and Freight trains. Tommy had a fantastic time talking to another rail enthusiast, Sid who chatted with Tommy about trains for ages. Sid was there for the freight and we saw 8 Class 66 freight trains from DB Cargo, Freightliner, DIrect Rail Services and GB Rail freight which made up for the lack of freight in part 2. We said our goodbyes to Sid and made our way into Warrington centre for some lunch, although Tommy was distracted by the trampolines on offer. He had his pasta after a bounce and then we headed back to Liverpool via Warrington Central. We'd done a lot of trainspotting so far so Mammy was keen for us to see a bit more of Liverpool away from the railway. We walked to see a cathedral that had been bombed in World War 2, before walking through China Town and finding a bit of a gem, Sugar and Dice Board Game Cafe. ‪@sugaranddice3244‬ After some cake, drinks and Tommy had won Snakes and Ladders, we headed to Albert Dock where we saw a ferry, crossing The River Mersey. By this time, we were knackered so we went for dinner, and then gave in to temptation by returning for more Hazelnut Ice Cream.
