In this episode of “In the Weeds”, Dr. Norsworthy examines the reduction in pigweed (Palmer amaranth) groundcover that occurs soon after a dicamba application and why it is not advisable to apply a contact herbicide like glufosinate soon after the auxin herbicide. When less than complete control from dicamba is likely because of large weed sizes at application, a 12- to 14-day interval between application of dicamba and glufosinate is recommended. These applications will result in use of two effective herbicide sites of action and minimize the risk for antagonism that can be seen when a shorter interval between applications occur. Looking for an effective weed killer? "In The Weeds" videos are created to help producers with weed control and weed prevention in crop production using science based weed management practices.
