WATCH IN HD I forgot to pitch-shift it. Sorry Germany. Here's an alternate link: http://vimeo.com/23698543 This vid was such a pain to render (Vegas kept closing or screwing up the rendering), but I absolutely love how it turned out. Anyway, I made it to Round 5 (final round!) of WNWT. We had to vid our OTP to one of three songs. As if you didn't expect it, I vidded Mal/Inara to this song by one of my favorite artists. First off, this is one of the most comprehensive vids I've ever made. I included nearly all of their scenes in the series as well as the movie. Since some of the judges aren't familiar with the show, I even did chronologically. Mal/Inara has a complicated relationship. It's hard to describe them without watching the show first, but I'll try and explain as best as I can. Mal/Inara is classic example of the will they/won't they couple. They both clearly have feelings for each other, but each of them is too stubborn to admit or act on those feelings. So, throughout the series, you see them kind of dance back and forth. Also, I think that this song fits them because there are always these moments where one of them is waiting for the other to take one step forward and in the last scene of Serenity; you see a glimpse of them finally taking that one step forward. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Voiceovers: Inara: You're lost in the woods. We all are. So is the captain. The only difference is that he likes it that way. Mal: The only difference is that the woods are the only place where I can see a clear path. Mal: Thought you were leaving, anyhow. Inara: That depends on you. Inara: You want me. You want me on this ship. Mal: Do I? Inara: Yes. Inara: You were staring at me. Mal: I only saw you is all. Mal: You stand out. Mal: Why'd this get so complicated? Inara: You have a strange sense of nobility, captain. You lay a man out for implying I'm a whore, but you keep calling me one to my face. Mal: I might not show respect to your job, but he didn't respect you. That's the difference. Inara, he doesn't even see you. Inara: I wasn't going to stay, you know. Mal: Yeah? Why is that? Inara: Why would I want to leave Serenity? Mal: Can't think of a reason. Inara: He just has this idiotic sense of nobility, you know. He can never just let things go. He thinks he's this hard-headed criminal and he can be unrelenting. But there's this side of him thats... Mal: You're a very graceful woman, Inara. Inara: I... thank you. Inara: Mal, you don't have to die alone. Mal: Everybody dies alone. Mal: Inara, I ain't looking for anything from you. I'm just- uh...feeling kinda truth-some right now. Mal: Life's just too damn short for ifs and maybes. Inara: I learned something from Nandi. Not just from what happened, but from her. The family she made, the strength of her love for them is what kept them together. When you live with that kind of strength, you're tied to it. You can't break away and you never want to. Inara: I'm leaving. Inara: I just don't want to draw this out. Mal: So, make up your mind. Inara: I'm a big girl. Just tell me. Inara: You came to training house looking for a fight. Mal: I came looking for you. Mal: You fog things up. Always have. You spin me about. Kaylee: Captain wants you to stay. Inara: That man doesn't know what he wants. Mal: Ready to get off this heap and back to civilized life? Inara: I uh. I don't know. Mal: Good answer. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As usual: Comment/Fav/Like/Subscribe --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NO COPYRIGHT INFRIGEMENT.
