The Hydropsyche caddis is a great caseless caddis imitation. Here in Central Pennsylvania caddis species are very prominent in our streams. That is why you see me tying a lot of caddis patterns on my channel. This pattern at first may look a little intimidating but I promise it is not as hard as it may look. I say it all the time, change the color and size of the fly to match the insects in you stream. This pattern is no different. I would definitely tie this fly smaller.
