Repairing and Cleaning my Condenser Microphone (Audio Technica AT4040)

Cleaned my large diaphragm condenser mic using home made distilled water and a soft paintbrush. Before the cleaning the mic would periodically produce a low volume popping sound that made the mic unusable in a recording environment. Since this is an old mic and was just collecting dust I figured I would risk a repair attempt. I am happy with the results as the mic no longer makes the popping noise and it sounds as good as ever! One thing that is concerning is some of the gold film on the capsule was removed when cleaning, this may make the mic susceptible to interference, however I have now used it quite a bit and have noticed no issues. Only attempt at your own risk!
