This is part 2 of my "Working with ClearBallistics Gel" video. The prior video covered general usage and best practices and do's and don'ts; this video is primarily concerned with discussing the lessons learned in breaking down, remelting and reforming the gel blocks, giving a simplified process that eliminates several of the steps listed on the official instructions that come with the gel. Let me clarify: in this video I mention that I occasionally, when impatient, crank up the heat to higher levels than ClearBallistics recommends. For safety you should always follow the manufacturer's recommendations. I am not advising you to turn up the heat higher than they recommend; only showing that I have done it, and explaining why I feel that it is an acceptable technique, but if you choose to do so you are doing so at your own risk. My official recommendation is to follow the manufacturer's recommendations. Also, the roaster oven featured in the video is a Hamilton Beach model 32182, 18-quart capacity. The metal mold for melting the gel in was purchased from www.clearballistics.com. The gloves are standard potholders with neoprene lining.
