How the Arctic can help you challenge your assumptions. | Mia Kemppaala | TEDxOulu

Mia will dive into the barriers of mind and explore the dangers of assuming too much. Her personal experiences of jumping into all things cold have taught her how to break free from assumptions that limit us – whether they be the self-doubt or the fear of not being accepted by others, traditional ways of thinking and doing things, or our desire to stay safely in our comfort zone and avoid challenging circumstances. Using examples from her life in the North, Mia will demonstrate how the toughest of circumstances can produce the sweetest of fruits. She will also share with you principles which will inspire you to challenge your assumptions, take action when going gets tough, and seize the opportunities presented to you. Mia Kemppaala is the founder of Polar Bear Pitching, community builder and entrepreneurial education specialist at University of Oulu. She started out her career as a teacher in natural sciences and later became immersed in entrepreneurial education, event production and marketing. She is often referred to as a weaver of opportunities whose passion is to connect the dots – people, ideas, and all things odd.
