#82 - Magenta Pinks and Self mixed Dark Mauve Wrecked Puddle Pour Swipe

The Wrecked Puddle Pour technique is when you pour distinct puddles of paint on a canvas, then intentionally disrupt or "wreck" them by manipulating the paint with tools like a dotting tool, a skewer, the end of a paintbrush, a comb, your finger, etc. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Swipe technique involves using a tool (a spatula, paper towel, palette knife, etc.) to GENTLY drag or swipe paint or cell activator across the canvas. The purpose is to create interesting patterns and textures often resulting in cells and lacing effects. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flow extender is paint (any color you want to use) placed in the negative space around your painting that helps your paint flow more easily and smoothly across the canvas. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cell Activator (CA) is a substance to create cells in the paint. It can be made with a combination of paint and water, paint and Australian Floetrol, or paint, Flood Floetrol and Flood Penetrol. Your cell activator is a thinner consistency than your paints and it gets put on top of your paints, then you can either blow it over your paints (using your breath, straw, hair dryer or air brush) or you can apply it to a swiping tool and swipe it over your paints. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Today I am doing a Wrecked Puddle Pour using Liquitex and DecoArt Extreme Sheen paints, then Swiping through the puddles with my cell activator on a 12"x12" canvas by Artist's Loft. Please watch until the end of the video as the dry result is there. The colors I am using today are Rose Pink by Liquitex mixed with Titanium White by Liquitex, Quinacridone Magenta by Liquitex, Rose Quartz by DecoArt Extreme Sheen, a Self-mix Dark Mauve, Titanium White by Liquitex and a Custom-made color by using table scrapings. My cell activator is Titanium White by Amsterdam. All of my paints are of the same consistency, as consistency is IMPORTANT! It leaves about a 2 to 3 second trace. I do a drip test after I mix up my paints and then I do one again before I do my pour. My pouring medium today is Flood Floetrol and Artist's Loft Gloss Pouring Medium. My ratio is 2:1 (2 parts pouring medium to 1 part paint). My cell activator is paint mixed with Flood Floetrol and Flood Penetrol. All of the paint that gets spun off or tilted off of my canvases gets scraped into a container and reused. I recycle the paint to use as a base color, flow extender or I will make a custom color from it.
