QUE ES EL LABORATORIO DE NAVEGACIÓN PATRIMONIAL La primera experiencia del Laboratorio de Navegación Patrimonial, fue una investigación colectiva e interdisciplinaria, para analizar la actividad náutica de Chiloé en cuanto al origen de su embarcación más icónica: la Dalca, como embarcación autóctona de este maritorio. En este resumen, subtitulado en lengua de señas chilena por Valetina Calvetti ‪‪@valentinacalvettibravo4135‬ intentamos resumir un proyecto que inició en verano de 2024 en las afueras del Museo Dalcahue, y sigue moviéndose entre Puerto Aysén, Punta Arenas y el Lago Chapo. El estudio sobre la construcción y navegación de embarcaciones tradicionales de Chile, está impulsando el desarrollo de nuevas redes de colaboración en torno a la navegación patrimonial que comparten los territorios de Chiloé, Aysén y Magallanes. La oportunidad para socializar los resultados de esta metodología vivencial, radica en la valorización de la historia del poblamiento humano en el rincón más austral del planeta, del que todos los habitantes de Chile deberían también sentirse parte. WHAT IS THE HERITAGE NAVIGATION LABORATORY? The first experience of the Heritage Navigation Laboratory was a collective, interdisciplinary research initiative aimed at examining Chiloé’s nautical activity, focusing on the origins of its most iconic vessel: the dalca, as a craft native to this seascape territory. In this summary, subtitled in Chilean Sign Language by Valentina Calvetti (@valentinacalvettibravo4135), we aim to capture a project that began in the summer of 2024 on the grounds outside the Dalcahue Museum and continues to move between Puerto Aysén, Punta Arenas, and Lake Chapo. Research into the construction and navigation of Chile’s traditional vessels is fostering new collaboration networks around heritage navigation shared across the territories of Chiloé, Aysén, and Magallanes. The opportunity to share the outcomes of this lived, experiential methodology lies in valuing the history of human settlement in the southernmost corner of the planet—an inheritance that all people in Chile should also feel part of.
