There are emotions that make you drained and tired, incapable of doing anything else. There are emotions that make you elated, happy beyond measure and extremely peaceful, full of energy to do whatever it comes. Can you control those? In fact, you can, at least at some extent. When you experience emotions that are destructive such as when they come from anger, envy, jealousy or injustice, instead of let yourself being dragged by the storm of emotions, you can reflect and then act. By doing that, you can turn your anger into something productive; your envy or jealousy is an alarm that your self-esteem is low and you may work on that, and instead of claiming rights over any injustice, you may help others with their own stories. The secret behind is not let yourself down because of the destructive emotion, but use it as a leverage, generating constructive emotions and breaking the sadness or terrible sensations you may feel. In fact, if you look at one of the main sources of a constructive emotion, FORGIVENESS, it comes from a place that is often horrible and painful; instead of being buried by grief, the "victim" turns the table and becomes the hero, for having reflected and then acted.
