Here we go! Race Day 2024. All of my training comes down to this. The Heysen 105 (115km) Ultra Marathon. From the start line at Rocky Creek to the Finish line in Victor Harbor, South Australia. My 4th Heysen and 6th Ultra Marathon. I've been trail running now for just over 6 years and loving it. It is my passion. I've fit all my training around family and other commitments. This year feels especially lonely but this is still the most special day of the year for me and something I intend to continue doing. for as long as possible. Still finding ways to improve at age 42. Can't wait to see what the future holds. What a journey. 2024 has been a difficult year for me, but no excuses, and this is the day to throw it all down. What an adventure! This is a longer video, and this video captures the ups and downs of the day, the journey, all the way to the finish line. So grab a drink, sit back and enjoy. If you are thinking of running an ultra marathon, then all I can say is go for it! You will be surprised what you can achieve with relentless dedication and consistency. I love this sport as it relies on no one's opinion of you, or what they "think" you are capable of. It is all down to you. The training, the preparation and the day of the event. It's all you and there is no where to hide. You can not fake this and it is 100% authentic to the end. Nothing ever goes to plan, but that's what makes it all the more exciting.
