Finally got to proceeding with the Radiant Historia low level challenge that I started a while ago. As I understand it, the last weeks have been busy for mostly everyone, so YouTube's a bit of a ghost town with not much going on recently. I should be able to share videos more frequently during Christmas holiday time, though. Guardian is the second giant spider boss we face, and about as hard as the previous one (though here it's actually doable without exhausting your restorative item inventory). In general, he's stronger than the previous giant spider (Hell Spider in Cygnus), but we're also stronger now, having gone through some mandatory non-boss battles on the way (not recorded since they're kinda boring) and having acquired some great equipment. I show my equips at the start. Aht gets a Rhapsody in one of the sidequests (luckily, it's not one of the sidequests I have to skip since there is no fighting involved, hence no unwanted exp gain) which boosts her magic by like 70 or something. This is incredible for a low level game but there's one problem - Guardian is one of those bosses that can't be pushed it around, so Aht's ridiculous traps have no effect here whatsoever. She does learn Cross Star at lv. 39, so in a regular run you'd probably have it by this point, but in this challenge we'll never see it. However, she is still in the party because she makes an excellent defensive and support character, come to think of it. That Dancing Dagger skill we got from Master will forever remain the best combo builder in the game (because Gafka will never learn Musou), so we should use that to build up damage for a powerful finisher. Marco is also here for support purposes, as well as his Mana Burst, and Stocke is a powerhouse due to always being at least a couple levels above the rest in this challenge and doing everything well. In a normal game, you'd be upset that Stocke isn't best at anything, but when you are unable to even learn any of the G-level magic because you don't get to level up nearly as much, you learn to appreciate the man's contributions to your battles. Stocke is equipped for magic as Fire and Will-O-Wisp will be our main source of damage. Marco's Magic Boost is perfect here. WOW drains a crapload of AP from Stocke, but if you can reduce Guardian's HP to less than a half in one combo, you can't complain, really. The second half of the boss's health is not as easily depleted because we're out of AP and can't use our Mana Bursts any longer. There will be battles long and action-packed enough where Mana gauges fill up more than once in the course of the fight ahead of us in this challenge run, but this isn't one of them. Poison really helps to finish the boss off, as that little damage really does stack in the long run. As you can see, I took a more offensive strategy to fighting him. Could've gone with less reviving, but overall, it's a lot more possible to beat Guardian while being economical to your resources than it is against Hell Spider. After the battle, we get the Beast Mark and with it, our final lv. 3 Mana Bursts. These will be used a lot during the further battles, because their effectiveness is very noticeable in a low level run. Stay tuned for more Radiant Historia low level action!
