Radiant Historia is a very recent RPG for the Nintendo DS, from Atlus, and may well be my personal favourite RPG for this system at the moment. Awesome battle system revolving around moving enemies around the field and performing combo attacks, engaging storyline and a peculiar vibe make Radiant Historia one of my favourites. The game's been compared to Chrono Trigger, and I guess there are some more or less minor similarities - enemies' position on the map affecting whom your attacks hit, time travel (though RH does it differently), and at times I get the same mood from playing this game as I do when I play CT. The similarities are minor at best though, but both are great games. I'm beginning to upload my recordings of a low level run I started in this game, and the first thing I should do is elaborate the rules, because it's not quite the same thing as a "true" low level challenge. Combo attacks are a focal point of this game and much of your offensive strategy thinking should revolve around making flashy strings of attacks, debuffs and steal attempts, since longer combo means better damage, higher chance of steal success, etc. Combos also result in great amounts of EXP after this battle, which is vital to know for an LLGer, because if one truly wants to do a lowest level possible game, they'd have to not make any combo attacks on the enemy at all. I think this would make a really exciting battle system unnecessarily tedious and the whole run very boring. Since you'll have to spread experience around, you'll need characters like Marco (who can't really hurt anything very well even in a normal game) to solo the end of some battles, pretty much limiting a lot of your strategies to nauseous poison stall. The difficulty will also shift from emphasising tactics to the troubles of having the character you want survive the battle. So my personal approach to the low level variation in this challenge implies: fight mandatory battles only (a la MBO) comboing permitted (and actually encouraged, because it's the funnest aspect of the game) The final levels will be a bit higher than in a "true" lowest level game, but the run will be a lot more enjoyable on the whole too. Bosses in this video: Vlad the Spy Desert Pirate Hertz & Red Sand Bram Granorgites at Sand Fortress The first battle is a Stocke solo (lv. 3 as a result of tutorial battles). My strategy is to change with the boss to get 3 combo attacks and push him away on the last hit. In this game, hitting enemies close to you deals greater damage, but also increases the damege they deal to you. Pushing an enemy back with Push Assault and similar moves makes for more defensive battles. This is a risky strategy and Stocke gets close to critical health, but what I wanted to do was quickly win without using up any healing items, which was achieved. Hertz & Bram are tougher because the low level restrictions finally become apparent - Raynie would know magic at this point, increasing her damage output, but not for us. Marco grapples the distant enemy, getting them together in the front (making our attacks hurt more), then Raynie and Stocke attack and push them back to decrease the damage they're about to deal. The weakest of the duo will be defeated in the next combo, leaving Bram only. When low at health, Bram powers up his attack, after which his damage output skyrockets. This is why I change turns with him until he has no more turns and combo him to death before he can increase his attack. The Granorgites battle at the Sand Fortress is tougher, as we're facing five enemies at once. The easiest way to go about it is getting rid of the frontline attackers by pushing them together and assaulting them with Raynie's Thunder and Stocke's Power Wave. When only three of them remain, two being archers (who can heal), the battle gets more relaxed and there's more breathing space to heal and strategise our turns (changing turns is too risky when so many enemies are alive).
