#DifinMisirWet #EthiopianFood #MisirWet #EthiopianCuisine #VeganEthiopianFood Learn how to make Authentic Difin Misir Wet, a rich and flavorful Ethiopian spicy Brown lentil stew that is perfect for fasting days, family meals, or special occasions. This traditional Ethiopian recipe is simple, healthy, and full of bold flavors! In this step-by-step cooking tutorial, I will show you how to prepare Difin Misir Wet using simple ingredients and traditional Ethiopian spices. 🛒 Key Ingredients: • Brown lentils (Misir) • Onion • Garlic • Tomato • Berbere spice • Cooking oil • Salt & spices How to Make Brown Lentil Wot (Misir Wot) Take two handfuls of brown lentils. Carefully sort through them to remove any unwanted particles like small stones or damaged lentils. Wash the lentils thoroughly with clean water, then boil them until they are soft. Set aside. Next, peel, wash, and finely chop two onions. Place the chopped onions in a pan and cook them without oil at first, allowing them to release their natural moisture. Stir continuously until the moisture reduces. Then add cooking oil and continue cooking until the onions turn golden brown. Add 2 tablespoons of berbere spice (reduce the amount if you prefer less spiciness). Cook the mixture without adding water at the beginning. Gradually add small amounts of warm water while stirring to prevent burning and to develop a rich sauce. In the middle of cooking, add 1 teaspoon of tikur kimem (makulaya spice blend). Then add garlic and ginger paste and cook for about 2 minutes until fragrant. Add the boiled brown lentils into the sauce (kulete) and mix well. Let it cook together for about 3 minutes. Add ½ teaspoon of cardamom powder (korerima). After 2 more minutes, add a little warm water, mekelesha kimem (the final finishing spice blend) and salt. Let the stew simmer until the foam disappears and the sauce thickens to your desired consistency. Now your Brown Lentil Wot is ready! Serve it with injera or bread and enjoy.
