English Transcript: Hello Ontario Deaf Community, This message is urgent and from the heart. As many of you already know, the strike by CUPE 2073 workers at Canadian Hearing Services (CHS) has entered its eighth week. Eight long weeks where essential services—interpreting, counselling, and more—have been disrupted, leaving many of us struggling to access the support we depend on. We’ve all seen the videos. We've heard each other’s stories. We've felt the impact directly. And yet, while CHS continues to advertise things like golf fundraisers and virtual events, the Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing community is still left in the dark. That’s why CUPE 2073 and CDGM are teaming up to host an emergency Zoom meeting tomorrow, June 17, 2025, at 12:00 PM noon (Ontario time). This meeting is for the Ontario Deaf community only. We need to talk—openly, urgently—about what’s really happening and what next steps we must take together. This is not just about services. It's about respect. It's about standing with the CHS workers who have always stood by us. They have invested their energy, their time, and their care into this community. It’s time to stand with them. It's time for CHS leadership to return to the bargaining table, work with CUPE 2073, and give workers the fair offer they deserve—so they can return to doing what they do best: supporting us. If you have any questions, please reach out to our Ontario representative, Anthony Cashin, or to me, Kimberly Wood. See you all on Zoom tomorrow at noon. Let’s make our voices—and hands—heard.
