Black History Assembly

Our Black History Assembly at AISB was a vibrant and heartfelt celebration of legacy, identity, and hope. Our students took us on a powerful journey through time as they honored past and present heroes from Black and African heritage, reminding us that history is not just something we study, but something we carry within us. Through moving skits, stirring poems, thoughtful biographies, and energetic dances, each performance was beautifully curated to valorise the sacrifices, brilliance, and resilience of those who paved the way. From iconic global figures to cultural champions closer to home, our students brought their stories to life with confidence and pride. A particularly meaningful thread throughout the assembly was the emphasis on learning, preserving, and valuing the mother tongue as a powerful marker of identity. Language carries memory, culture, and worldview and when we honor our languages, we honor ourselves. It was more than a celebration; it was a call to remember, to reclaim, and to rise shaping a future generation that knows who they are and stands proudly in that knowledge. Another powerful highlight of the assembly was the parents’ presentation spotlighting Ethiopia, a wonderful example of resilience on the African continent. Through thoughtful storytelling, she reminded us how strong leadership and national unity enabled Ethiopia to resist colonial rule and preserve its sovereignty. It was a stirring reminder that when a people stand together with clarity of purpose and courageous leadership, they can shape their own destiny. The message was clear and timeless: unity, vision, and collective strength are values every nation can strive to emulate. We are deeply grateful to our parent for enriching the celebration with such depth and perspective- it greatly elevated the experience for our entire community.
