Project CARS 3 by Slightly Mad Studios/Bandai Namco Entertainment, 2020. It's well documented that Project CARS 3 is a very different game to Project CARS 2, with a much more arcade focus. As part of the refocusing of the game content, the onus was put on tarmac-based tracks, which meant the entire rallycross/rally type content of Project CARS 2 was almost entirely removed. The only cars remaining are the Ford Fiesta Ostberg RX car and the Renault 5 Maxi (a well-known tarmac specialist rally car). I've fleshed out the rally section here by using the circuit version of the Ford Escort and the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution rally car. The tracks can indeed still be coated in snow or flooded with rain, so there's rally-style handling to be found, but the game is a bit more arcade now, so it's somewhere in-between easy (for some cars like the Mitsubishi Evo) and hard (Renault 5 Maxi) to keep them driving in a straight line. In particular, the snow vs Ford Escort combination shown here was extremely hard to drive without skidding out! The game seems a little reduced graphically, there's a weird blur effect on wheels as the car passes in replay mode, and the heavy rain effect of lots of mini clouds isn't terribly realistic looking. The reflections in puddles look a bit odd too. The have removed the blurry effect on the dashboard though (a hangover from the Need For Speed: Shift days), but in many other ways this game is almost a sequel to the Shift titles!
