This Video is part of a series created for the 'Enhance Adaptation and Resilience using Nature-based Solutions Micro Qualification'. This was funded by the Kiwa Initiative and conceived of and managed by The Pacific Community (SPC). Auckland University of Technology researchers, along with NUWAO researchers, and people from Griffith University and Ecosystem Services Consultants put the teaching materials together and ran a pilot course in late 2025 through Griffith University. Filmmaker Nick Monks created these films. This film is 'Moananui Cultural Systems and Nature-based Solutions' Key messages -Moananui cultural systems are rooted in reciprocal kinship or care-based relationships to their ocean island eco-systems. -Moananui eco-relational cultures and knowledge systems activate deeper and more integrated ecological connection and practices. -Nature based approaches in Moanaui or Indigenous contexts should aim to be culturally regenerative, addressing cultural identity and ecological embeddedness to preserve and revive spiritual and sociocultural connection to place.
