You're onboard the Vista King in the summer of 1984, and approaching Duluth's harbor. Pictured is the laid back atmosphere before the Canal Park area really started taking off, before the lakewalk existed, and before I-35 extended to Landon Road. The Aerial Lift Bridge is pictured lifting, before the $4.6 million dollar refit project started on the bridge in 1986. Notice the old operator's house with the operating machinery on top, before it was moved to its present location: on each end of the lift span. The vessels "Protagonist", "Joshua A. Hatfield" (just a few weeks before being sold for scrap), and the "August Ziesing" can be viewed near the end of the video.
